Synopsis

In the Gunsmoke episode "Livvie's Loss," we are introduced to Livvie Redgate, a determined mother who is fiercely protective of her son, Ben. Livvie is haunted by the memory of her husband, Horatio, whose alcoholism has left a dark shadow over their family. She fears that Ben will follow the same destructive path, and in a moment of desperation, she threatens to burn down every saloon in Kansas if it means keeping him away from alcohol. The conflict between mother and son sets the stage for a gripping tale of love, loss, and the struggle against addiction.
