Synopsis
In The Lost Special, the story begins with a sense of urgency and dread as a special train vanishes from the railway lines of England. Set in June 1890, the narrative unfolds through the eyes of Inspector Collins, who is called to investigate the mysterious disappearance. The train, which had left Liverpool with two passengers and three crew members, is inexplicably delayed, raising alarms at the station. Collins learns that the passengers include the nervous Mr. Caratol, who seems to be in a hurry to reach London, and his intimidating companion, Gomez. The tension builds as the stationmaster, Mr. Bland, expresses his concerns about the train's whereabouts.
