Synopsis
In the Gunsmoke episode titled Home Surgery, U.S. Marshal Matt Dillon finds himself in a race against time when he encounters a young girl named Tara Hawtrey. She urgently seeks help for her father, Mr. Hawtrey, who has suffered a severe leg injury after being thrown by a horse. The injury is compounded by fever and the threat of gangrene, leaving Tara terrified for her father's life. Dillon learns that the closest doctor is in Dodge City, but the only means of transportation has been taken by Ben Walling, a local man who has been courting Tara and is not trusted by her father.
