Synopsis
In the Gunsmoke episode 'Word of Honor', the story begins with U.S. Marshal Matt Dillon and Chester expressing concern over Doc's unexplained absence. After two days without word, they are relieved to find him back in Dodge City, but Doc's demeanor suggests something troubling has occurred. He reveals that he was called to treat a young man who had been shot in the back, but despite his efforts, the patient dies. The twist comes when Doc admits he has promised not to reveal the identities of those involved, putting him in a precarious position.
