Synopsis

In the Gunsmoke episode 'Grass,' we meet Harry Pope, a timid farmer who has recently moved to the frontier after the death of his wife. Settling in a sod hut, he becomes increasingly paranoid, convinced that Indians are stalking him at night. His fears are exacerbated by the isolation of his new life, leading him to seek out a gun for protection at the urging of U.S. Marshal Matt Dillon. Dillon, however, suspects that Pope's fears may be more imagined than real, suggesting that the real danger lies in his own mind.
