Synopsis

In the Gunsmoke episode 'Drop Dead,' the harsh realities of a Kansas drought set the stage for a gripping confrontation. US Marshal Matt Dillon rides out to Cottonwood Pond, a vital water source for cattle, with rancher Jack Jackson. The drought has left the prairie parched for six months, and Jackson's herd is dying at an alarming rate. However, they find the pond fenced off by the greedy Mr. Howard, who refuses to allow any cattle to access the water, putting Jackson's livelihood at risk.
