A true story which we call Jack Ketch, our star, Mr. Charles Lawton. Hey, Sheriff, are you shooting at me? Sure am, Wilcox. You know someone who fires faster than me? I'm the fastest car... Synopsis

'Jack Ketch' unfolds the tale of John Price, a man whose occupation as the royal hangman has rendered him both feared and shunned by society. The story begins with Price feeling the weight of his profession, which is synonymous with death and despair. As he navigates through a crowded tavern, he is met with disdain and mockery from the patrons, who see him not as a man but as a symbol of their fears. Price's loneliness is palpable; he longs for friendship and acceptance, yet he is met with scorn. His financial troubles compound his misery, as he struggles to pay off debts that threaten to land him in prison. In a moment of desperation, he approaches William Hartley, a man he perceives as a potential ally. However, Hartley’s intentions are ambiguous, and their interactions hint at a deeper animosity. As the story progresses, the tension builds, with Price's mental state deteriorating under the pressure of his circumstances. The looming threat of the watchman searching for him adds to the ominous atmosphere, as Price grapples with the reality of his situation. The narrative intricately weaves themes of societal judgment and personal despair, leading to a climax that forces Price to confront the very essence of his existence and the choices he has made. The story captures the essence of a man trapped by his role in society, highlighting the psychological turmoil that accompanies a life steeped in death.
