Synopsis

In The Man Who Thought He Was Edward G. Robinson, we are introduced to Homer J. Hubbard, a timid and meek man ensnared in a stifling marriage with his domineering wife, Ada. For five long years, Homer endures Ada's incessant nagging and petty tyrannies, which chip away at his self-esteem and sense of identity. His life takes a dramatic turn one evening in 1930 when he and Ada go to the movies to see Little Caesar, featuring the iconic actor Edward G. Robinson. As he watches Robinson's portrayal of a tough, assertive gangster, Homer becomes mesmerized by the character's confidence and bravado. In that moment, he feels a spark of something he has long suppressed: a yearning to break free from his mundane existence and assert himself.
