Synopsis

In this riveting episode of Suspense titled 'Dead Ernest,' the story unfolds with a tragic accident that leaves Ernest Bowers, a 34-year-old man suffering from catalepsy, in a precarious situation. As he crosses the street, he is struck by a car driven by Theodore Tobey. Due to his cataleptic condition, which mimics death, he is mistakenly declared dead at the scene. The chaos surrounding the accident leads to the loss of a crucial note that Ernest carries in his pocket, which instructs that he should not be embalmed for 72 hours in the event of a false death. This note, along with a silver bracelet inscribed with the warning 'Do not embalm me. I am not dead,' is critical for his survival, yet it is overlooked amidst the confusion.
