Synopsis
In The Flame, we meet Eleanor, a young woman caught in the restrictive expectations of her father, Mr. Courtney. The setting is a drawing room where the women await the return of the men, symbolizing the traditional gender roles of the time. Eleanor's admiration for suffragist Susan B. Anthony ignites a fierce debate about women's rights and the right to vote. Her father, embodying the patriarchal authority, dismisses her views and insists she conform to societal norms, including an arranged marriage.
