Synopsis

The Wild Young Man presents the gripping tale of Stephen Decatur, portrayed by Dean Jagger, set against the backdrop of the early 19th century. The story begins in May 1801, as the Bashar of Tripoli declares war on the United States after capturing the American frigate Philadelphia and its captain, Bainbridge. The atmosphere is tense as Decatur, a young lieutenant, learns of the dire situation facing American sailors who are imprisoned and subjected to the whims of their captors. The stakes are high, with American commerce threatened by the Barbary pirates, and Decatur's resolve to confront this tyranny is ignited.
