Synopsis

In 'The Man in the Room,' a freelance writer, struggling to make ends meet, seeks the help of a typist named Miss Markham to assist him with his manuscript. The story begins with the writer's initial visit to the office building where Miss Markham works, a seemingly innocuous place that soon reveals its unsettling atmosphere. Upon entering the building, he encounters the peculiar elevator operator, a small, hunched man whose strange demeanor raises immediate suspicion. The writer's fascination with Edgar Allan Poe's tales of psychological horror adds a layer of tension to his experience, as he feels an inexplicable sense of dread surrounding the elevator operator.
