Synopsis

In the gripping episode Account Payable from the classic radio series Suspense, listeners are introduced to Timothy Baker, a meek and timid bookkeeper who feels utterly trapped in his mundane life. He works under the oppressive thumb of his boss, Mr. Waterbury, a domineering figure who revels in belittling Baker and asserting his authority. The office environment is tense, filled with the palpable disdain that Baker feels for his superior, and the audience can sense the simmering frustration that drives him to contemplate an unthinkable act. As he navigates the daily indignities of his job, Baker's thoughts increasingly turn to a desperate plan to change his circumstances. He envisions a future where he can provide a better life for his beloved daughter, Jessie, who is the light of his life and the only source of joy amidst his otherwise bleak existence.
