Synopsis
In the gripping episode Smiley from the classic radio series Suspense, we meet Gerald Smythe, affectionately known as Smiley. He is a simple, good-natured man whose life takes a harrowing turn when he is falsely accused of harassing a woman. The story opens with Smiley reflecting on his past, where he was well-liked and known for his cheerful demeanor. However, everything changes when a woman misinterprets his innocent behavior, claiming that he has been following her and making unwanted advances. Despite his protests of innocence, the legal system fails him, and he is sentenced to two and a half years in prison. This wrongful conviction shatters his spirit and alters his perception of women, leading him to harbor a deep resentment towards them.
