In the Gunsmoke episode The Constable, Marshal Matt Dillon is faced with a challenging situation in Dodge City. After a night of rowdy behavior from a group of cowboys, Dillon takes action by arresting several of them to restore peace. However, his methods draw the ire of local merchants who are more concerned about their profits than the law. They convene a meeting to express their concerns, urging Dillon to adopt a more lenient approach to the cowboys who frequent their establishments.
