Synopsis

In the Gunsmoke episode "Hard Lesson," the story opens with Pete Belvin returning to his old home near Dodge City, wounded and desperate. He arrives not only with a bullet wound but also with the loot from a recent bank robbery. His younger brother Joe, who has not seen Pete in years, is shocked to find him in such a dire state. The brothers' reunion is bittersweet, as Joe learns that their mother has died, leaving Pete without the healing touch he so desperately seeks.
