Synopsis

The Eighteenth Captain opens in Philadelphia during the American Revolution, where the naval committee is grappling with the urgent need for a naval force to defend the coastline against British aggression. John Paul Jones, a passionate and experienced sailor, enters the scene with a fervent plea for the establishment of a Continental Navy. He argues that without a dedicated naval force, American towns are left vulnerable to attacks, as demonstrated by the recent destruction of Falmouth, Maine.
