Synopsis

In The Fountain Plays, Mr. Archibald Spiller, a conservative and somewhat eccentric Englishman, takes great pride in his quaint country estate, particularly his ornamental garden fountain. The story unfolds during an evening gathering at his home, where he hosts a small group of friends and neighbors, including the sharp-tongued Mrs. Digby and Mr. Gooch, who seem to delight in teasing Spiller about his obsession with the fountain. As the guests arrive, the atmosphere is initially light-hearted, filled with banter and cocktails, but an undercurrent of tension begins to surface, especially with the presence of Mr. Gooch, who harbors a grudge against Spiller.
