Synopsis
In A Passage to Benares, we meet Henry Paggiorli, an American psychologist who awakens in a Hindu temple on the island of Trinidad, disoriented and nursing a splitting headache. As he gathers his bearings, he learns from his host, Mr. Low, that a shocking crime has occurred: a bride, married just hours earlier, has been brutally murdered. The news sends ripples of intrigue through Paggiorli, who is drawn into the unfolding mystery surrounding the bridegroom, Budman Low, who is now in jail, accused of the crime.
