Synopsis
In The Vital Statistic, Philip Marlowe, portrayed by Gerald Moore, is drawn into a complex case when he encounters Mrs. Terry LaBar, a silk merchant who is being followed by an unknown woman. As she jumps into his car, desperate for help, Marlowe senses that her troubles run deeper than just a simple case of being stalked. Mrs. LaBar is evasive, revealing that she is in the midst of a divorce from her husband, Vince LeBar, whom she describes as a parasitic figure in her life. The tension builds as Marlowe learns that her business is at stake, and any involvement of the police could jeopardize her operations.
