Synopsis

In The Bum's Rush, Philip Marlowe receives an urgent call from Aunt Jessie Gavin, who is deeply concerned about her fiancé, Jonathan Mitre. She describes him as a proud man who has recently left their home in Montana on a secretive venture, and she fears for his safety. Despite his initial skepticism about Mitre's character, Marlowe agrees to take the case, motivated by the hundred-dollar check Aunt Jessie has sent along with her plea for help.
