Synopsis

In A Close Call, George Valentine is approached by Joyce Dunning, who is in a precarious situation involving her long-time love for Lawrence Putnam, a renowned big game hunter. Joyce is not just a romantic interest; she is also the best friend of Lawrence's wife, Bernice, who is suffering from a serious heart condition. The stakes are incredibly high, as Joyce believes that if Lawrence learns of her feelings, it could lead to Bernice's death due to the emotional shock. Thus, Joyce enlists George's help to create a façade of romance between them, hoping it will convince Lawrence to leave Bernice for her own well-being.
