Synopsis
In The Secret Road, the narrative is set in 1780, amidst the turmoil of the American Revolution. New York City is under British control, and the French fleet, carrying hope for the American cause, is en route to Newport. The story begins with Captain Ledger, a prisoner on a British ship, who escapes during a violent storm that wreaks havoc in New York Harbor.
