Synopsis
In The Conqueror, set in 1879, we meet Dr. Henry Rose Carter and Dr. Charles Vest, two young doctors struggling to make a name for themselves in Baltimore. Their practice is failing, and the lack of patients leads to a sense of desperation. Carter is particularly restless, pacing the floor of their office, contemplating their situation. Their dreams of making a difference in the world of medicine seem distant as they face the harsh reality of financial instability and a healthy population that doesn't need their services.
