Synopsis
In the Cavalcade of America episode titled Ordeal by Fire, the story unfolds in 1835 Hartford, Connecticut, where Elefra Terry is unexpectedly appointed president of the Hartford Fire Insurance Company. This significant change comes at a time when the company is struggling, having lost money for six consecutive years. Elefra's daughter, Sarah, is excited about the news and is determined to see her suitor, Edward Carrington, propose to her. However, Edward is apprehensive about approaching Elefra, fearing the repercussions of his request.
