Synopsis

In The Golden Needle, we meet Nellie Donley, a young girl with aspirations that stretch far beyond her small-town life in Parsons, Kansas. With a vivid imagination, she dreams of glamorous places like Paris and New York, but her reality is filled with mundane chores and hand-me-down clothes. Her mother shares a whimsical saying about a 'golden needle' that can create magic in garments, planting the seed of ambition in Nellie's mind. As she grows older, Nellie becomes increasingly aware of the drabness of women's house dresses and the need for something more stylish and empowering.
