Synopsis

In Big Boy Blue, the story unfolds in 1873, a time when America is bustling with progress and ambition. The setting is St. Louis, a city eager to establish itself as the nation's leading railroad terminal. Amidst this backdrop, we meet Eugene Field, a lanky young man who walks into the editorial rooms of the St. Louis Evening Journal, seeking a position as a reporter. He is met with skepticism and a dose of reality from Mr. Cochran, the editor, who is more concerned with the immediate demands of the newsroom than with nurturing new talent.
