Synopsis

In the episode Ottmar Mergenthaler from Cavalcade of America, we are introduced to a young Ottmar Mergenthaler, who arrives in America from Germany in 1872. Seeking a brighter future, he approaches his cousin, August Hall, who owns a machine shop in Washington, D.C. Despite his limited English, Ottmar expresses his eagerness to prove himself as a skilled mechanic. His determination and inventive spirit are evident as he seeks a chance to showcase his talents.
