Synopsis
In this episode of Cavalcade of America, we are introduced to John Winthrop the Younger, the first chemist in America, who embarks on a journey of scientific exploration in the year 1635. Set in the early days of the Bay Colony, Winthrop is determined to improve the living conditions of the settlers through his experiments in chemistry. Despite the hardships of colonial life, including a lack of basic necessities and skepticism from his peers, Winthrop is resolute in his belief that chemistry can provide solutions to their pressing needs.
