Synopsis
In A Case of Nerves, James Wentworth arrives in Toledo, a city he barely knows, seeking refuge from a troubled past while grappling with a debilitating medical condition known as trigeminal neuralgia. The story opens with Wentworth disembarking from a train, deliberately avoiding taxis to maintain a low profile. He boards a bus, unsure of where it will take him, and eventually alights in a nondescript neighborhood filled with identical houses, where he finds a room to rent for the night. His immediate concern is to find a doctor who can help alleviate his excruciating pain.
