In The Man With The Limp, Ranger Bill faces a significant challenge in Naughty Pine as discord brews among the members of the local mission board and the orphanage. The conflict centers around Steve, a devoted man of prayer, who is criticized by his peers for not contributing enough to the physical work required to support their organizations. Bill, aware of the financial struggles they face, recognizes that the situation has escalated beyond mere disagreements; it threatens the very existence of the community's vital services.
