Synopsis

In The Filipino Underground, the story unfolds in Manila on May 6, 1942, amid the chaos of Japanese occupation during World War II. Three men—Juan, Lupo, and Rafael—stand in a crowd, pretending to be ordinary Filipinos while secretly observing the Japanese guards and their collaborators. The atmosphere is tense as they witness the Japanese proclaiming their control over the Philippines, celebrating the fall of Corregidor and Bataan. The trio is acutely aware of the dangers surrounding them, especially the presence of local collaborators who cheer for the occupiers, such as the Rochas family.
