Synopsis
In the Lone Ranger episode titled Homestead Swindle, we meet Dan and Bess Griffin, a hopeful couple traveling in a prairie schooner to their new home in Mason County. They have invested their life savings into what they believed was fertile land, as promised by the conman Paul Ludwig. However, as they crest a hill, their dreams are shattered when they see nothing but sand and rocks stretching for miles. The couple's optimism quickly turns to despair as they realize they have been duped.
