Synopsis

In The Chaplain, the atmosphere at Fort Laramie grows increasingly tense as Captain Lee Quince learns that a significant number of men in Bee Company have fallen ill. With fifty-nine soldiers down with what appears to be scurvy, Quince is alarmed by the rapid decline in their health. He discusses the situation with Sergeant Gorse, who confirms that the illness seems to be spreading, and they ponder whether it is a genuine medical crisis or a manifestation of deeper issues like boredom and low morale among the troops.
