Synopsis
In Paging Miss Ellen, the story unfolds in the 1870s at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a time when women were largely excluded from the scientific community. Ellen Swallow, a determined and intelligent young woman, decides to challenge these norms by enrolling in an advanced chemistry course. Her entrance into the classroom is met with surprise and skepticism, as her male classmates and professors are unaccustomed to the idea of a female student in such a rigorous academic environment.
