Synopsis
In The Man Who Stepped Aside, we find ourselves in May 1860, where the political landscape of America is fraught with tension. William Henry Seward, a prominent figure in the newly formed Republican Party, is eagerly awaiting news from the convention in Chicago. The atmosphere is electric as a crowd gathers outside his home in Auburn, New York, anticipating his nomination as the next president. Seward, filled with pride and ambition, believes that the election will be a mere formality, given the political divisions within the Democratic Party.
