Synopsis

In The Battle to Stay Alive, narrated by Robert Young, the audience is transported back to the Dark Ages, where fear and superstition dominate the understanding of disease. The story opens with a leper being cast out from his community, illustrating the harsh realities faced by those afflicted with illness. The Burgermaster's commands highlight the stigma surrounding disease, as the leper is forbidden from entering public spaces and interacting with others. This sets the stage for a deeper exploration of humanity's historical misconceptions about the causes of illness.
