Synopsis

In The Giant in the Meadow, Ralph Bellamy stars as Theobald Smith, a dedicated scientist in the year 1884. The story begins with a poignant farewell at a dock, where Smith's friends are embarking on a journey to Europe for advanced medical studies. However, Smith faces a dilemma: he has been offered a scholarship but feels compelled to stay behind and pursue a government job that allows him to work in a laboratory. His fiancée, Lillian, supports his decision, emphasizing the importance of his work in preventing diseases rather than merely treating them.
