Synopsis

In The Colossus of Panama, the year is 1904, and the United States Senate is embroiled in a heated debate over the Panama Canal, a monumental project that promises to reshape trade and military strategy. At the center of this discussion is Dr. William Crawford Gorgas, who is tasked with the critical job of eradicating disease, particularly yellow fever and malaria, which threaten the lives of those working on the canal. Walter Houston's portrayal of Gorgas reveals a man deeply committed to his mission, yet facing considerable political opposition.
